The Quran Contains many Types of Knowledge

quranicxknowledge

The Quran contains a wealth of knowledge. While some knowledge is only available to God, He desires and allows specific individuals, such as prophets and infallible leaders, to be aware of some of it. The Quran distinguishes three types of knowledge: beneficial, detrimental, and neither beneficial nor detrimental. In this article, we will look at two types of knowledge mentioned by the Quran.

The Holy Prophet Muhammad’s heirs, the Imams, receive Divine inspiration; other devout people can also obtain it, though the Imams receive the purest form of it, and non-infallible receive it to varying degrees and to a lesser extent depending on their position.

The Quran’s Knowledge Types: Revelation

It is not [possible] for any human that Allah should speak to him except through revelation or from behind a veil or send a messenger who reveals by His permission whatever He wishes. Indeed He is all-exalted, all-wise.

This verse explains the three ways God communicates with His prophets:

Direct revelation is disclosure received without the need for a middleman or revelation received through a veil, as when God spoke to Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) through a tree or in a dream.

__The Prophet received revelations containing the entire Quran, and God communicated with the other prophets through revelations. This information comes from God.

The Quran’s Knowledge Types: Inspirational

We revealed to Moses’ mother, [saying], ‘Nurse him; then, when you fear for him, cast him into the river, and do not fear or grieve, for We will restore him to you and make him one of the apostles.’

The translator translates the word way () as a revelation. Nonetheless, this translation refers to inspiration in the heart instead of the terminological meaning of what is revealed to prophets.

The distinction between inspiration and revelation is that the former is reserved for prophets, and the latter is not. Second, while inspiration comes in bursts, revelation is consistent. Third, as other verses have indicated, inanimate objects such as the sky 21 and insects such as the honeybee 22 can provide inspiration. In this case, it refers to instinct. Inspiration can be both demonic and divine.

Conclusion

Knowledge of the unseen, scientific knowledge, acquired knowledge, knowledge by presence, revelation, inspiration, and many other forms of knowledge are all contained in the Quran. Numerous topics, such as dream interpretation and intuitive understanding, have yet to be covered in this article.
